c, s and k

Traditionally, some 's' sounds are written with the letter 's', while in other words (often with French origins) the 's' sound is represented by the letter 'c' - compare for example 'sent' and 'cent'. Also, some 'c' sounds are represented by the letter 'c', others by the letter 'k' or the combination 'ck', or even by 'qu' (for example: 'unique').

We can achieve a great amount of rationalisation and simplification by spelling all 's' sounds with the letter 's' and all 'c' sounds with the letter 'c'. For example: sent (sent, cent), rase (race), race (rake), reseev (receive), soc (sock).

The letter 'k' then is no longer needed.
